Mastering Klondike Solitaire: Rules & Strategy

Klondike Solitaire (also known as Patience) is the quintessential card puzzle that became a worldwide phenomenon through early personal computer operating systems. The objective is to assemble four ordered foundation suit stacks from Ace to King.

Our version supports both Drag-and-Drop and Smart Click-to-Move: click a card to highlight it, then click your intended column to move it instantly!

Key Winning Guidelines

1. Prioritize Face-Down Cards Always make tableau moves that unveil face-down cards first before drawing new cards from the waste pile. Unlocking hidden cards expands playable choices.
2. Keep Aces and Twos Moving Always transfer Aces and Twos immediately into the foundations; they never serve as tableau stacking targets and only block columns.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about controls, features, accuracy, and local browser saving.

How do you play Klondike Solitaire?
The goal is to move all 52 cards into the 4 foundation piles at the top right, sorted by suit from Ace to King. In the 7 tableau columns, cards must be stacked in descending order (King down to Ace) with alternating colors (red on black, black on red).
How do I move cards between columns?
You have two intuitive options: Click-to-Move (click a card to select it, then click the destination column), or Drag-and-Drop (drag the card directly onto the destination). You can also double-click any card to fly it automatically to the foundation piles!
Can any card be placed on an empty tableau column?
Only Kings (or stacks led by a King) can be placed into empty tableau columns.
What is the difference between Turn 1 and Turn 3?
In Turn 1 (Draw 1), one card is dealt from the stock at a time, making it easier to solve. In Turn 3 (Draw 3), three cards are dealt together, and only the top card can be played, creating a deeper strategic challenge.
Can I undo my moves?
Yes! RapidWebApp provides unlimited undo steps so you can experiment with different moves and find winning paths without penalties.
