Set Note Password

Your note will be encrypted using AES-256-GCM. Your password is never stored or sent anywhere. If you forget your password, the note content cannot be recovered!

Why Use a Client-Side Browser Notepad?

Traditional cloud-based note apps require user sign-ups, sync delays, and transmit sensitive personal thoughts to third-party servers. RapidWebApp Online Notepad runs 100% locally in your web browser. Everything you type is stored directly on your computer via localStorage, making it completely private, lightning-fast, and fully functional even when disconnected from the internet.

⚡ Instant Zero-Lag Auto-Save

Every keystroke is automatically captured and debounced in your browser. Accidentally close your tab or lose power? Your notes remain intact upon reopening.

🔒 Military-Grade AES-256

Protect confidential notes with client-side AES-GCM encryption and PBKDF2 key derivation. Your raw notes are never written to disk in plain text when locked.

📑 Markdown & Multi-Tab

Organize multiple documents seamlessly with multi-note tabs, live Markdown preview, reading time calculators, and clean PDF / TXT exports.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about controls, features, accuracy, and local browser saving.

Where are my notes saved and is my data private?
Your notes are saved 100% locally in your web browser using localStorage (under the key rwa_notepad_documents). Zero bytes of text are ever uploaded to any cloud server, third-party database, or advertising network. You can safely write private journals, passwords, drafts, and meeting minutes completely offline.
How does the client-side AES-GCM Note Encryption work?
When you lock a note, your text is encrypted directly in your browser memory using the native Web Crypto API (crypto.subtle) with AES-256-GCM. We derive a cryptographic key from your password using PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations and a random salt. Only the encrypted ciphertext is saved to your computer. Without your password, it is mathematically impossible to read your note.
What is the storage capacity limit for notes?
Modern web browsers (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari) allocate approximately 5 MB to 10 MB of local storage per domain. Because plain text is extremely lightweight, 5 MB can store roughly 2.5 to 5 million characters (equivalent to over 10 full-length books or thousands of note pages).
How do I print or export my notes as a clean PDF?
Click the "Export" menu above the editor and select "🖨️ Print / Save as PDF". Our specialized print stylesheet automatically strips away all navigation bars, tabs, toolbars, and buttons, generating a crisp, professional document ready for Letter or A4 paper.
Can I write in Markdown and preview it live?
Yes! Toggle the "Markdown" mode switch in the top toolbar. You can write using standard Markdown syntax (headings, bold, lists, blockquotes, code blocks) and see a live synchronized preview side-by-side or in full preview mode.
