💡
Pro Tip for Streamers, Gamers & Remote Workers: For optimal voice clarity in Discord, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams, position your microphone 3 to 6 inches from your mouth at a 45-degree angle to avoid direct breath pops (plosives). Aim for regular speech to hit between -18 dB and -6 dB on our visual level meter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about controls, features, accuracy, and local browser saving.

Is my voice or microphone audio uploaded to any server?
No, never. All audio analysis, waveform rendering, and voice playback tests are processed 100% locally inside your browser memory using the HTML5 Web Audio API and MediaRecorder API. No audio buffers or recordings are ever transmitted across the internet.
Why is my microphone volume too quiet or not moving the meter?
First, check that your physical microphone switch or headset inline control is not muted. Next, check your operating system input volume: on Windows, go to Settings > System > Sound > Input Volume (set to 80–100%); on macOS, go to System Settings > Sound > Input Volume.
How do I test my microphone for Discord, Zoom, or Google Meet?
Select your preferred headset, USB mic, or built-in microphone from our device dropdown and press Start Microphone Test. Speak at your normal conversation volume and verify the meter reaches the green/yellow zone (-18 dB to -6 dB). Then use the Record & Playback test to hear exactly how other call participants will hear you.
Why do I hear an echo or high-pitched screech during the test?
By default, the live waveform and decibel meter do not loop live microphone audio back into your speakers to prevent acoustic feedback screeching. Live audio is only played when you deliberately click the Playback Voice Sample button after completing a recording.
How can I fix "Microphone Permission Denied" in my browser?
Click the padlock or settings icon on the far left side of your browser address bar (URL bar), locate Microphone in the permissions menu, toggle it to Allow, and refresh the page.
