Mastering Fractional Inch Measurements on Screen

Imperial rulers divide each inch into powers of two. The longest sub-marks denote half-inches (1/2"), followed by quarter-inches (1/4"), eighths (1/8"), and sixteenths (1/16"). Our interactive caliper guides calculate both exact decimals (e.g. 2.375") and standard reduced fractions (2 3/8") automatically.

✓ Accurate fractional division ticks down to 1/16-inch.
✓ Auto-converts measurements between decimals and reduced fractions.
✓ Dual draggable caliper markers clamp around hardware, screws, and photos.
✓ 100% private in-browser tool with zero app installations.

How do I read 1/16-inch marks on this ruler?
Each inch is divided into 16 equal segments. Count the smallest tick marks from the preceding whole inch: 2 ticks equal 1/8", 4 ticks equal 1/4", 8 ticks equal 1/2", and 12 ticks equal 3/4". Our live caliper readout displays the simplified fraction automatically.
Is this ruler 100% actual physical size?
Yes, once calibrated. Because screens have different pixel densities (DPI/PPI), click "Calibrate" and hold any credit card against the screen to align the guide. Your ruler will then render at true 1:1 physical scale.
Can I copy measurements directly to my clipboard?
Yes! Simply click the "Copy Measurement" button to copy both the exact inch reading (decimal & fraction) and millimeter equivalent.
